ASUU DEY THREATEN TO START STRIKE AFTER FG IGNORE DEM DEMANDS.


The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) through dem Lagos Zone Coordinator,
Prof. Olusoji Sowande for one news conference inside Lagos on Tuesday,
don threaten to start nationwide strike in regard to dem demands the implementation of the 2009 agreement with the Federal Government. Sowande yarn say the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on funding of state universities, breaches of the conditions of service and re-negotiation of the agreement, exclusion of Nigerian universities from Pension Management Company and non-release of NEEDS Assessment Intervention Fund wey still dey ignored.

“The review of the agreement for don dey undertaken for 2012 and 2015 but that one no happen. “The implication na say our union don show enough patriotism and understanding on dis matters in the last four years. “We dey perplexed and disappointed with both the Federal and State Governments as dem no dey respond to our consistent appeals to bring about genuine transformation for the education sector, ‘’ na so he yarn.

He say dem for no embark on strike because na the Students and ASUU
members dey end up to  suffer am. “It dey unfortunate say the only language government dey always respect and listens to na industrial action like strike”.

Strike again? NA wa O, where we dey go for dis country? Students never even fit gain admission enter school, the ones wey dey school dey suffer strike. As how na?
