NEWS: Senate don okay compulsory treatment for gunshot victims.


The Senate on Tuesday don pass the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill , wey don compel hospitals to treat pipu with gunshot wounds before dey get police report .

Dey send The bill to the Senate by the House of Representatives for concurrence, dey wan establish the law to make sure say victims of gunshot wounds go receive necessary treatment from medical workers and assistance from security agencies .
The bill sef say make pipu plus security agents to assist any person with gunshot wounds and make sure say dem take the person go the nearest hospital for treatment .
Ro add, the legislation mandates say make hospital dem no reject anybodi with gunshot wounds whether dem deposit money or not, treatment must start.
President of the Senate , Bukola Saraki say no be everybodi wey get bullet wound na criminal and e dey important to pass the bill so that pipu with bullet wound no dey pooff anyhow.
Saraki yarn say , “ By the passage of this bill , the Senate has moved to ensure that every hospital in Nigeria , both public and private, must accept to treat victims of gunshot wounds without any clearance from the police .
“What we have done is to ensure that everyone is entitled to medical treatment , irrespective of the cause of the shooting . We should reserve judgment for the criminal justice system , and leave healthcare for the medical professionals .”
