NEWS: WASSCE Say 59% of candidate pass English and Maths


Na total number of 923,486 candidates, out of 1,559,162 wey sitdon for the 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination get credit passes for Mathematics and English.

The figure, wey represents 59.22 per cent, na improvement for the percentage of school candidates wey get credit passes for Mathematics and English for the 2015 and 2016 diets of the examination. 38.68 per cent get credit passes for Maths and English for 2015, the percentage for 2016 na 52.97 per cent.
The results of 214, 952 candidates, wey represent 13.79 per cent for the 2017 WASSCE, dey withheld by the West African Examinations Council.

The Head of National Office, WAEC, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, say on Monday say...
“Out of the total number of candidates that day for the examination, 1,471,151 candidates, representing 94.36 per cent, have their results fully processed and released, while 95,734 candidates, representing 5.64 per cent, have a few of their subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to the candidates in the course of registration or writing the examination.
“Such errors are being corrected by the Council to enable the affected candidates get their results fully processed and released.”
