Na Six people don pooff of cholera for Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State after dem eat contaminated Abacha, one local delicacy (salad) of the people of the South-East geopolitical zone.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, wey yarn press about the development for the state secretariat on Thursday, say 39 other persons dey under observation and dey receive treatment for public and private health facilities inside Isolo. Idris, yarn say seven out of the 15 samples wey dem take go the Public Health Laboratory, Yaba, after the breakout of diarrhoea cases wey dey reported for some communities inside Isolo, test positive to vitro cholerae.
He say Na “Six pipu don pooff wey dem don record among the 45 cases. Majority of the patients no show the sign of the classical rice-water stool, instead, Na a typical diarrhoea and vomiting. “twenty-two of the 26 wey dem been dey manage for the Isolo General Hospital and the Lagos Mainland Hospital Don dey discharged, two pooff, three still on admission for the Lagos Mainland Hospital. The commissioner note say the water and food analysis wey dem do for the Lagos State Drug Quality Control Laboratory show say Na Abacha, one local salad, wey many of the victims chao cause the infection.
Idris say, “The main suspect source of the infection Na the local salad aka Abacha. Samples of the local salad and the well water wey dem consume for the area reveal the presence of vibrio cholerae, Salmonella species and E.coli for Abacha and the water sample na from one of the two wells wey dey the area.
