FALANA TELL FG NOT TO SELL NATIONAL ASSETS

Femi Falana, wey be Senior Advocate of Nigeria, don call the Federal Government not to sell the nation’s assets to raise money.
The lawyer yarn say e dey in violation of Section 16 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, objects to the controlling of the nation’s asset by some few people. Falana say “But for selfish considerations, some  legislators wey fit dey que up to participate for the purchase of the nation’s assets no dey prepared to defend the Constitution.

“If the senate dey genuinely desirous to contribute meaningfully to the debate on the economy, e must, as a matter of urgency, propose beta substantial reduction for the jumbo emoluments of federal legislators wey dem say be the highest in the world.” He Add say “E dey on record say federal government don spend billions of Naira to renovate the properties, each of dem dey fraudulently sold for about N50 million.
“Many other properties of the federal government for Abuja, Lagos and other cities dey undersold to many public officers and their cronies.

Apart from the recovery of the NET building for Lagos wey dem sell to the father of one legislator for N4 billon instead of the market value of N75 billion, the sale of the other 531 properties of Nitel and other agencies of the federal government wey dey located for various parts of the country never dey accounted for.”

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki been don suggest say the nation assets must be sold to stimulate the economy. The lawyer con still dey wonder why the Senators no object to suggestions by some certain prominent Nigerians.

Aliko Dangote been say make the government consider selling off the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), and other dormant but huge capital-generating sectors, and invest the proceeds in the economy.

*Abeg, which way forward.?
